Bold Shoplifters Attack With Pepper Spray-Sky Arnold
Two scary cases of shoplifting have some employees at Stones River Mall in Murfreesboro concerned.
In both cases, a store employee was attacked with pepper spray by shoplifters.
"It hurt. I couldn't see for a good two hours," said Kim McCrary.
McCrary says she was attacked with pepper spray while trying to stop four shoplifters at the women's clothing store A'Gaci.
That was nearly two weeks ago.
Police say a different group of four women did something similar at Victoria's Secret Monday morning, spraying the manager who caught them stuffing merchandise into bags.
"I heard this extreme laughter. It was almost a mocking laughter after the incident had occurred," said Jon VanHoff.
VanHoff works at the Kay Jewelers across from Victoria's Secret.
He says the attack was over so quick onlookers had no time to stop the shoplifters.
Police don't think the two incidents are related but they do believe the group that hit Victoria's Secret had no intention of wearing the $800 in merchandise they stole.
Spokesperson Kyle Evans says they likely wanted to sell the stuff online.
"This store sells a lot of expensive merchandise with a great potential for resale," said Evans. Bold Shoplifters Attack With Pepper Spray-Sky Arnold
