Company Adding Jobs in Middle Tennessee-John Dunn
It has been called the fastest growing company in Middle Tennessee.
Brentwood based Simplex Healthcare defies the struggling economy with each day.
Now it is adding new customers and new employees.
Simplex Healthcare started two years ago with 35 employees.
The mail-order Diabetes supply company has 300 people, and now they are hiring hundreds more.
Some might say the growth is scary.
Simplex Healthcare is not your typical workplace.
The vast majority of the 300 people who work here came dressed for Halloween.
Yes, Simplex is a different kind of company.
"We believe, kind of one our core values is kind of to make it fun, and a little weird," says Ellen Hitt, Simplex VP of Human Capital.
Simplex sells medical supplies under the name Diabetes Care Club.
It is also one of the fastest growing companies in America, with a culture all its own.
"It shows through on the phone and in dealing with our patients, everybody has a great attitude and is busy building a successful company," says Hitt.
Employees enjoy unique benefits.
There is no CEO parking, instead there are spots for expectant mothers.
Musicians who work here have flexible hours to play gigs, and free books allow workers to broaden their knowledge.
"And what we've ended up with here are a bunch of really hardworking agents, who are very energized and empowered, says Craig Hartman, Simplex Healthcares CFO.
It is a corporate culture that is breeding success.
As their business expands Simplex is doubling its workforce, hiring 300 new people over the next two years.
Simplex is growing so fast they're running out of space.
It is why they will soon move into a building in Cool Springs where they will occupy more than 90,000 square feet.
Despite the worst economy in decades, Simplex has found a growth market.
Diabetes continues to be an epidemic, allowing the company to become the nations third largest mail-order Diabetic supply company in just two years.
"Going from $8 million in gross revenue to $157 million, we expect that growth to continue," says Hartman.
So while you may not see super heroes making sales calls every day, you will see plenty more Simplex employees.
It is a rare success story in a troubled time.
Simplex will begin hiring those 300 people by the end of the year, that is about the same time they will move into their new building in Cool Springs.
