WBFF Fox 45 :: Lipscomb Academy Football Coach Dies - Paul Jones Reports
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - High school football in Tennessee lost a coaching legend Thursday.  Glenn McCadams passing away early Thursday morning after complications from Mantle Cell Lymphoma.

McCadams was a winner on the football field.  During his 31 year career at Lipscomb, he captured 319 victories and 3 state titles.  McCadams always managed to keep things in perspective.  For him, it was all about keeping things simple.  Perhaps that's why he never owned a cell phone, but he was always reachable when his players needed him, whether it was a question about the game on the field or the game of life.

"There's no question Glenn's influence went way beyond teaching the game of football," says Mike Roller.  "He was here to shape young men. If there's somebody better at doing it than Glenn I don't know who he is."

David Martin shared many post game handshakes with McCadams.  The former Goodpasture coach saying of his longtime rival and friend, "His interest was consistently what was right and good for high school athletics. Always the ultimate competitor and gentleman, and a man of great character and leadership."

Analyst Murphy Fair adding that, "High school football in Tennessee won't be the same without Coach Mack around anymore."

The man who coached inside the stadium for so long is survived by his wife of 43 years, 2 children and 7 grandchildren.  A pom pom at midfield just another tribute to a coach who influenced so many lives.

Glenn McCadams was 66 years old. Lipscomb Academy plans to pay tribute to its longtime coach next season, though it's unclear just how yet.

No funeral arrangements have been announced at this time.Lipscomb Academy Football Coach Dies - Paul Jones Reports

Tishomingo County voters OK beer, alcohol sales
May 22, 2013 23:38 GMT

IUKA, Miss. (AP) -- Tishomingo County is the latest Mississippi jurisdiction to legalize alcohol sales.

Voters approved the sale of liquor, wine and beer Tuesday, reports the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/13JCcix).

It wasn't clear referendums would pass until affidavit ballots were counted Wednesday.

With more than half Tishomingo County's voters casting ballots, legalizing alcohol passed by 42 votes, while legalizing beer and light wine passed by 73. The county borders Alabama and Tennessee.

Lawmakers legalized liquor at a proposed resort at the county's Bay Springs Lake in 2010, but it wasn't built.

Greene County voters legalized beer sales last year, while Corinth, New Albany and Senatobia have legalized alcohol sales under a 2012 law that allows cities to hold votes.

Mississippi has 13 remaining counties that allow no beer or alcohol sales.
