MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - John Pennington, Jr. says he found a derogatory word written on the front door of his apartment, related to his sexual orientation. Pennington says he isn't afraid, but filed a police report just to be on the safe side.
"I was angry but then I really pity people like that," says Pennington. "My mom raised me to be open minded towards anyone that's different. We're all different on different levels. I just don't understand how somebody can be so closed minded."
Pennington says he's not sure why he was targeted, but he's being extra careful when coming and going from his apartment building.

Rebar finishing will add 40 jobs in Knox County

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Another 40 jobs are coming to Knox County as Gerdau (gair-DOW') expands its steel reinforcement bar plant.
The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development says the new facility will apply finishing services to rebar now made at the company's Lonsdale mill.
TDEC Commissioner Bill Hagerty and Gerdau officials announced the expansion on Monday, saying the plant will have the capacity to finish about 120,000 tons of steel per year.
Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett said it was good to see a vacant building in the WestBridge Business Park be put back into industrial use.
