"It's outrageous, Eliza McClellan said. "It's really gotten too high."
McClellan is bought gas at the Z-Mart on Gallatin pike in East Nashville, one top five places to find cheap gas, according to Fox 17's Fuel Gauge report
But even at $3.47, it would still cost her $55 to fill 'er up
And because the average price of a gallon of gas in Nashville has gone up 43 cents in the last 30 days, McClellan has to make cuts somewhere else.
"It hurts," McClellan said. "It takes away from the table."
McClellan is just one of hundreds of thousands of Midstate drivers that take to the road every single day.
And they don't all get to pay $3.47. A gallon of regular at this Citgo in East Nashville is $3.54, and in MetroCenter it's $3.59.
A federal study published earlier this month says the average American family spent $2,912 on gas in 2012.
And today's gas prices are hitting more than just families. They're affecting mass transit systems, delivery trucks, and even cab drivers like Sonny Chester.
"It costs me about a hundred more dollars a week when it goes up like that," Chester said. "There's nothing you can do about it. You've got to operate with fuel or you can't operate without it."
You can find the cheapest gas in your area by visiting the Fuel Gauge section of this website.

Houston brother will be his own attorney in court
June 18, 2013 13:02 GMT
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Roane County man will face federal gun violation charges next month without an attorney.
The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/17VlXpM ) reported Rocky Joe Houston will represent himself on a charge of possession of a gun by a felon.
The charge came after Houston earlier represented himself in state court on charges stemming from a police chase. He was convicted of evading arrest and reckless endangerment.
Houston and his brother, Leon Houston, were tried, but not convicted, in the 2006 shooting deaths of a Roane County deputy and his ride-along companion.
In federal court, Rocky Joe Houston is claiming the officer who charged him with the felony had no legal authority.
