vandalism at a south Nashville Islamic Center. An underwear-clad vandal
caused considerable damage inside and outside the building.
Metro Police say the call came out after 2 a.m. at the Al-Farooq Islamic Center at 1421 4th Ave S.
Police say the suspect seems to have entered through a window and was possibly intoxicated. The suspect was seen by witnesses fleeing the scene in only white boxer shorts.
Police do not have a motive, and do not believe the break-in to be a hate crime. The Islamic Center does not have surveillance video.
This incident coincides with the vandalism of the center on Feb. 10, 2010 - almost three years to the date. An arrest was never made in the 2010 vandalism.
Meetings planned for this morning have been moved to upstairs. Police say security has been increased.
Anyone with information can call police at 862-8600 or CrimeStoppers at 74 CRIME.

Work beginning on Civil War park in Knoxville
May 18, 2013 13:12 GMT
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Civil War landmark in East Tennessee will soon become a low-impact park that allows public access and preserves the area's historical integrity.
High Ground Park is being created at the site of Fort Higley in south Knoxville, which was manned by Union soldiers during the Siege of Knoxville in 1863.
The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/11Vb6XJ) reports the park is scheduled to open on Nov. 27, which is the 150th anniversary of the construction of Fort Higley.
Bob Young, who has been involved in the effort to preserve the site, says it is "a treasure."
