Bridge work on I-40 will shut part of the interstate down beginning at 5am Saturday morning. The section of I-40 West near the I-24 split will remain closed thru the weekend. The bridge is scheduled to reopen in time for Monday morning rush hour.
In September, a tractor trailer hauling a large piece of equipment hit the I-24 East ramp bridge that crosses over the I-40 West ramp. It cracked a bridge beam. During the closure, crews will straighten the damaged steel beam and bolt it to the bridge with new plates. Traffic will be routed onto I-24 West to I-65 South back to I-40 West.

Firefighters find body in burned Memphis house

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Fire officials say a man's body was found in a burned house in Memphis.
The Memphis Fire Department says 35 firefighters and other emergency personnel responded to a blaze Monday morning at a one-story house in the Uptown neighborhood.
Firefighters searched the home after they put out the blaze. Fire officials say the body of a man was found in the living room area.
The man's identity has not yet been released. The cause of death is being investigated.
Officials say the home has fire, water and smoke damage. The cause of the fire also is under investigation.
