WBFF Fox 45 :: Commodores Cap Historic Season with Bowl Win - Eric Alvarez
The Vanderbilt Commodores capped their best season since 1915 with a 38-24 win over N.C. State in the Music City Bowl Monday at LP Field in front of 55,801 raucous fans.

"It's fun," said Brad Wade, Vanderbilt fan.  "It's mostly Vanderbilt [fans], we've got a good game going on, just enjoying it."

"I'm loving it," said Yanon Gray.  "I'm enjoying the experience."

The attendance was only slightly higher than last year's game between Wake Forest and Mississippi State and well below the 69,143 that came in 2010 to watch U.T. take on North Carolina, but with history on the line, the Vanderbilt fans made sure LP Field was as loud as ever.

"We've got a fan base that's just as hungry as any fans in the country and we're going to enjoy this thing a whole, whole lot," said Jerry Stigall, Vanderbilt fan.

The Commodores hoisted the trophy but the but the excitement didn't end there, because it was more than a second bowl win for head coach James Franklin, and more than an MVP award for running back Zac Stacy...the victory gave Vanderbilt its first 9-win season since 1915.

"To be out there and get nine wins and to see coach Franklin and all the seniors leave on such a good note was great," said Andrew Kerr, Vanderbilt fan.

And whether they washed down their sorrows wearing red or celebrated the historic win in black and gold gear, for many fans, the Music City Bowl party didn't end, it just moved across the river to the New Year's Eve Bash on Broadway.

"It's a happy day," said Ashlie Kerr, Vanderbilt fan.  "I think they're going to have a lot of happy fans out there and a lot of you know, happy spirit and a good way to ring in the New Year with a bowl win."

Bonnaroo and then what? More events could follow
May 20, 2013 12:33 GMT

MANCHESTER, Tenn. (AP) -- The former farm where the Bonnaroo music festival is held may play host to other events as well.

The partnership that puts on the annual music and arts festival in Manchester has steadily upgraded the site, adding a dozen water wells and permanent electrical power.

Festival partner Rick Farman told The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/14nuEF5 ) his group is in active discussion with a lot of groups. The Great American Mud Run will be held at the site on July 27 and is expected to draw more than 5,000 participants.

Coffee County Mayor David Pennington said he's curious to see where such a plan could go, saying it could have a huge impact.

This year's Bonnaroo will be held June 13-16. Paul McCartney heads a long list if acts.
