WBFF Fox 45 :: Eleven Christmas Tree Recycling Locations in Davidson Co.
Time to take down the tree?
Starting today, Davidson County residents can bring their Christmas trees to one of 11 drop off sites. Public Works will collect the trees for mulching at the city's Bordeaux Mulch Facility.
All trees must be free of lights, ornaments, icicles, all tinsel and garland. No flocked trees will be accepted.
Recycling live Christmas trees into mulch, keeps them out of landfills and helps save Metro the cost of disposal fees. Almost 18,000 Christmas trees are recycled each year through the Metro Public Works/Metro Parks and Recreation drop-off program. This is the eighth year for the program.
Natural brown mulch, made from Christmas trees and yard brush, is sold at the Bordeaux facility for eleven dollars a cubic yard.

June 19, 2013 16:41 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Gov. Bill Haslam says chief deputy Claude Ramsey is retiring at the end of August to spend more time with his family in Chattanooga.

The Republican governor said in a news release on Wednesday that the 70-year-old Ramsey has been integral to his administration on key initiatives that include civil service reform, economic development efforts, workforce development training and improved operation of state government.

Ramsey was elected to the General Assembly in 1972 where he served four years in the House. He was Hamilton County's mayor for 16 years.

His last day on the job is August 31.
