WBFF Fox 45 :: People Help Keep an Eye on Your Furry Friend for the Holidays
The holiday season is filled with food and fun, but we can't forget our 4-legged family members who need care during our time away from home. The busy holiday travel season is underway, but what about our furry friends who may not be included in the festivities? Not to worry. Nashville dog lady Lindsay Hess has you covered with her pet sitting service. We caught up with her during a visit to Caroline and Zoey, 2 loving Beagles. It's important to let your pet sitter know details about your pet's needs. For example, Zoey is partially paralyzed, so they have a special routine.

"The both eat separately, otherwise Caroline finishes her food very fast, then goes and tries to eat Zoey's food," says Hess.

Once they are done eating, the rest of the visit is spent with lots of love and attention. Even though her name is the Nashville Dog Lady, Lindsay cares for a variety of animals in the Davidson and Williamson County area.

"We have tons of cats, birds, chinchillas, rabbits, chickens, hedgehogs," says Hess. "If they don't know they're gonna be staying out extra late, they'll call me last minute, could you maybe let so and so out, we haven't been home in a while, so we are able to do that too which is nice."

Dr. Prior with Murphy Road Animal Hospital has some advice for choosing the pet sitter who is right for you.

"Check references," says Dr. Prior. "Know that these people do a good job, that they are reputable, you want to make sure they are licensed and bonded."

Dr. Prior is in the FOX17 studio to answer your pet questions every Wednesday on TENNESSEE MORNINGS.People Help Keep an Eye on Your Furry Friend for the Holidays

2 appellate court judges are stepping down
May 24, 2013 21:29 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Two Tennessee appellate court judges have notified Gov. Bill Haslam that they will not run for another term on the bench in the August 2014 retention election.

Patricia J. Cottrell, a judge on the Court of Appeals, and Joseph M. Tipton, who sits on the Court of Criminal Appeals bench, will both leave after September of next year.

The announcements come after the state legislature left Tennessee without a way to replace judges who step down or die when a commission expires at the end of next month.

Members of the soon-to-be-defunct Judicial Nominating Commission will make recommendations for replacements to give to Haslam before the panel expires. Haslam will appoint the replacements from those recommendations.
