WBFF Fox 45 :: Groups: $12 million mystery donation was crime
By JACK GILLUM
Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Two election watchdog organizations want the Justice Department and Federal Election Commission to investigate more than $12 million in campaign contributions mysteriously funneled through two unknown companies in Tennessee. The money went to a prominent tea party group, which spent it on congressional races. The origin of the money, the largest anonymous political donation in a campaign year filled with them, remains a secret.
The watchdog groups were the Campaign Legal Center and Democracy 21. They said Thursday that routing the money through the Tennessee companies to the tea party's most prominent "super" political committee, FreedomWorks for America, appeared to violate a U.S. law prohibiting the practice of laundering campaign contributions in the name of another person. A spokeswoman for FreedomWorks, Jackie Bodnar, did not return a telephone message.

Former Dyer County constable sentenced to prison
May 23, 2013 12:50 GMT

DYERSBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- Former Dyer County Constable Derick Shane Hundley has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.

The State Gazette (http://bit.ly/14UHydd ) reported Hundley was sentenced Monday after earlier entering a guilty plea to enticement of a minor through electronic means. The government dropped a child pornography count.

Prosecutors said Hundley, who is 30, used a cellphone to try to entice a minor female to have sex with him. Police arrested Hundley last July and found an external hard drive that contained numerous images of minors involved in sex. He resigned from the constable post he had won in 2010 after his arrest.
