WBFF Fox 45 :: Best Selling Author Uses Franklin As Backdrop For New Book
Nashville resident Karen Kingsbury created quite the crowd at Lifeway Christian store in Franklin on Wednesday.

The best selling author was signing copies of her most recent novel,
"The Bridge", "This is a book that shows random acts of kindness by a
town to help a bookstore owner" explains Kingsbury.

The book is set in Franklin, TN and inspired by several real events including the historic flood.
While the fictional story is centered around the closing of a beloved bookstore - it's message goes much deeper.

"Charlie
Barton is fictitious owner of bookstore he not only experiences
disillusion of a dream and his bookstore is closing but also a tragedy.
What happens is sort of reminiscent of it's a wonderful life" says
Kingsbury.

Throughout these pages, Kingsbury poses a question on the minds of many of us these days.
What do we do when we feel like we've lost everything?

"
In the light of last Friday, we all want to hold on to our loved ones
more tightly. A story like the bridge shows you coming together,
highlights the best in our culture and in people" says Kingsbury.

Lost love and the beauty of enduring friendships complete the storyline
and like her other inspirational fiction books, the content is
something readers say they can really relate to.

"Her books are
so real, you relate to characters. They seem so real" says Janice
Adcock, who has been reading Kingsbury's books for years.

Without giving anything away, it's safe to say that the main message
within these pages is that God is in control even when we can't see it!

"The
Bridge is one of those stories you can give to almost anyone. It's a
shorter read in a gifty size it comes across as a ray of hope" says
Kingsbury.

Work beginning on Civil War park in Knoxville
May 18, 2013 13:12 GMT

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Civil War landmark in East Tennessee will soon become a low-impact park that allows public access and preserves the area's historical integrity.

High Ground Park is being created at the site of Fort Higley in south Knoxville, which was manned by Union soldiers during the Siege of Knoxville in 1863.

The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/11Vb6XJ) reports the park is scheduled to open on Nov. 27, which is the 150th anniversary of the construction of Fort Higley.

Bob Young, who has been involved in the effort to preserve the site, says it is "a treasure."
