WBFF Fox 45 :: A Graduate Story You Have to See to Believe
(FOX17'S MEAGAN O'HALLORAN) It's a big weekend at Tennessee State University. Tomorrow students will become graduates, earning their degrees, and among this year's Class of 2012 is a grandmother who says it's taken her nearly 40 years to accomplish this huge milestone. A longtime dream put on hold is about to become reality for Frances Rollings. The 58 year old grandmother is finally, after a 40 year academic journey, graduating tomorrow, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

"We have to be true to ourselves and it was something I wanted to do and if persevering gives someone else encouragement, I'm all for it," says Rollings.

Rollings is all smiles now, but take into account the many setbacks she's endured along the way: losing a scholarship, making bad grades, financial burdens and dropping out of school to take care of her family: it all slowed her down, but it didn't stop her. Rollings says that little spark inside of her got her through the tough times. Now tomorrow, when she turns her tassel - nurse, grandmother, and graduate - it's on to new horizons.

"I'm just ready for whatever the world has for me and I just need to take advantage of it and enjoy it," says Rollings. "That's what I'm doing right now. Enjoying this moment."

So, what's next for Frances Rollings? Right now she's working at St. Thomas as a Registered Nurse, and is now thinking about pursuing her Master's Degree.

Tenn. Powerball ticket worth $1 million
May 19, 2013 18:44 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Powerball ticket sold in Tennessee barely missed winning a share of an estimated $590.5 million prize. But the ticket has a nice consolation prize worth $1 million.

Officials say the Powerball ticket worth $1 million was sold in Chattanooga.

There's no word yet on who won.

A Powerball ticket sold at a supermarket in Zephyrhills, Fla., matched all six numbers selected Saturday night for the estimated $590.5 million prize. It's the highest Powerball jackpot in history.

The winning numbers were 10, 13, 14, 22 and 52, with a Powerball of 11.
