TRAFFIC ALERT:
A tractor trailer fire reported at around 5:30 a.m. at I-24 E. near exit 65 is blocking the ramp in Cadiz in Trigg County. Eastbound lanes are also blocked. Eastbound traffic is detouring via Princeton-Cadiz (exit 56) to KY 139 into Cadiz, then taking US 68 eastbound to return to I-24 at exit 65. Caution is required due to heavy traffic along the detour route. The incident is expected to be cleared at around 9:30 a.m.
The fire pretty much engulfed the trailer making it difficult to extinguish. A backhoe had to be brought in to break open the trailer help firefighters access the burning cargo inside.

Work beginning on Civil War park in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Civil War landmark in East Tennessee will soon become a low-impact park that allows public access and preserves the area's historical integrity.
High Ground Park is being created at the site of Fort Higley in south Knoxville, which was manned by Union soldiers during the Siege of Knoxville in 1863.
The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/11Vb6XJ) reports the park is scheduled to open on Nov. 27, which is the 150th anniversary of the construction of Fort Higley.
Bob Young, who has been involved in the effort to preserve the site, says it is "a treasure."
