The clock is ticking for candidates to rally support at the polls....
Whether it is knocking on doors.... Making sure yard signs stand tall
....or stopping people in the street to drum up support.....
Political candidates like republican Ben Claybaker are doing it all...
Claybaker says, “Life just happens and so we are just telling them how important this is and reminding them hey Tuesday is the last time to get out and vote.”
Over in north Nashville the approach was different as democratic chairman Chip Forrester and others gathered a "Get out and vote rally"
Forrester says, “Sending everybody out of here with that enthusiasm to do the hard work- everybody is pretty tired right now we've all been working hard so we have to reach in and pull that extra energy and enthusiasm out so that we can work all the way through until the polls close at 7 pm on Tuesday night.”
Voters who attended the rally say these types of events help them get to know the goals of candidates and their parties
Lolita Slay says, “This is the people and we are the decision makers and we put them in place - we ask them to be our voice and to be a part of that process and to enjoy this kind of camaraderie and fellowship is good.”
Chairman Forrester hopes the rallies will inspire people to take part in grassroots efforts
Forrester says, “This is the way that we get volunteers that will be going door to door on Tuesday enthused to understand how important it is to get them motivated and activated.”
And with several close races in the upcoming election- every last effort counts before November 6th.
Polls will open on Tuesday at 7am and will close at 7pm that evening.

June 19, 2013 16:41 GMT
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Gov. Bill Haslam says chief deputy Claude Ramsey is retiring at the end of August to spend more time with his family in Chattanooga.
The Republican governor said in a news release on Wednesday that the 70-year-old Ramsey has been integral to his administration on key initiatives that include civil service reform, economic development efforts, workforce development training and improved operation of state government.
Ramsey was elected to the General Assembly in 1972 where he served four years in the House. He was Hamilton County's mayor for 16 years.
His last day on the job is August 31.
