WBFF Fox 45 :: South Nashville Club Won't Reopen
A nightclub Metro police padlocked last week will remain closed permanently.

The general manager of Yea Baby's on Murfreesboro road reached an agreement in court Thursday with the owners of the building to terminate his lease.

Paul Eichel tells Fox 17 News he has no plans to reopen the business.

"I'm not intending to open another place in Nashville Tennessee," said Eichel.

Metro Police initially closed Eichel's club down last year citing nuisance complaints.

He reopened it only to see police shut the club down again Friday.

Eichel says he's finished fighting with police over what he says is a bias against hip hop clubs.

"From the day they found out we weren't gonna be country their intent was to get us shut back down," said Eichel.

Prosecutors say the problem wasn't the music but rather the multitude of calls.

Police say since the club reopened 13 months ago they have made 270 service calls to the business and another 366 to the surrounding area.

Perhaps the most serious was a shooting last month where 50 shots were fired.

that's why even with the decision to close the club prosecutors still want to seize any equipment Eichel may have left there.

"Our intent is in him not taking all that equipment and taking it to another building next week to run the exact type of business on another street in Nashville," said prosecutor Jan Norman.

A decision on whether that equipment can be seized will be made November the 19th.

Haslam's chief deputy Claude Ramsey to retire
June 19, 2013 16:41 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Gov. Bill Haslam says chief deputy Claude Ramsey is retiring at the end of August to spend more time with his family in Chattanooga.

The Republican governor said in a news release on Wednesday that the 70-year-old Ramsey has been integral to his administration on key initiatives that include civil service reform, economic development efforts, workforce development training and improved operation of state government.

Ramsey was elected to the General Assembly in 1972 where he served four years in the House. He was Hamilton County's mayor for 16 years.

His last day on the job is August 31.
