WBFF Fox 45 :: New Documentary Could Help Troubled Teens Here and Across the Country
The spotlight is shining on the Midstate after 3 local gay teenagers killed themselves earlier this year. Filmmaker Elliot London is now making a documentary in Tennessee as a nonprofit narrative about gay teens being bullied. The film will focus on a teen in Oak Ridge who tried to kill himself. London says it's so much easier to bully now through social media. He hopes to eventually make the film available to all schools and public libraries as a resource for bullied teens.

"Kids are being bullied by the masses with no control, so by the time a kid is made fun of and trying to absorb what has happened, hundreds, if not thousands, the whole school will know within seconds because of social networking," says London. "Twitter, Facebook, YouTube."

Tennessee gained national attention last year because of the so-called "Don't Say Gay" bill. For a link to the documentary trailer, go to Fox17.com, click on FOX LINKS and look for BULLIED TEENS.

Tishomingo County voters OK beer, alcohol sales
May 22, 2013 23:38 GMT

IUKA, Miss. (AP) -- Tishomingo County is the latest Mississippi jurisdiction to legalize alcohol sales.

Voters approved the sale of liquor, wine and beer Tuesday, reports the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/13JCcix).

It wasn't clear referendums would pass until affidavit ballots were counted Wednesday.

With more than half Tishomingo County's voters casting ballots, legalizing alcohol passed by 42 votes, while legalizing beer and light wine passed by 73. The county borders Alabama and Tennessee.

Lawmakers legalized liquor at a proposed resort at the county's Bay Springs Lake in 2010, but it wasn't built.

Greene County voters legalized beer sales last year, while Corinth, New Albany and Senatobia have legalized alcohol sales under a 2012 law that allows cities to hold votes.

Mississippi has 13 remaining counties that allow no beer or alcohol sales.
