I'm Saving You Money tonight the way we do at the end of every week with
all things Free in Freebie Friday. First up, you're invited to the
'We Care for Kids Day' this Sunday from 2-4. There will be everything
from pumpkin decorating and science experiments to face painting.
Vanderbilt Children's Hospital is hosting the event which always
attracts hundreds of kids and their families. It's at Vanderbilt's
Sports Club Field on Children's Way between 25th Avenue South and
Natchez Trace.
Also, if you're a firefighter, police officer or
paramedic, you and your spouse could get free legal help next Saturday.
The Tennessee Bar Association is offering services including drafting
wills and estate planning. It's part of the Wills for Heroes program.
It's October 13 from 9 - 3 at 100 Sam Ridley Parkway East in Smyrna.

Man pleads guilty to Memphis officer's murder

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A former death row inmate is set to be released from prison after he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder of a Memphis police officer.
Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirich said Tuesday that she has accepted Timothy McKinney's guilty plea.
McKinney was convicted of first-degree murder for the fatal shooting of Officer Don Williams. The officer was killed outside a comedy club in December 1997.
McKinney appealed and won a new trial, which ended with a deadlocked jury. A third trial earlier this year also ended in a hung jury.
The Commercial Appeal reports that McKinney was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Since he's already served more than 15 years -- including 11 on death row -- McKinney will be released this week.
Williams' family opposed the settlement.
