WBFF Fox 45 :: Man Arrested for Robbery of Elderly Woman Outside Medical Building
Police say a SWAT & Special Response Team officer this afternoon arrested the man suspected of shoving an 84-year-old Kentucky woman to the ground while robbing her of her purse outside a South Nashville medical building on September 19th. Officers tell us Todd Drewes, 46, was taken into custody on Lafayette Street moments after an officer saw him emerge from a building on Ash Street. We're told an investigation headed by a South Precinct detective led to the identification of Drewes as the man believed responsible. The detective traveled today to Central City, Kentucky, to show the victim a photo lineup. Police tell us she identified Drewes. Officers say in addition, Drewes, during an interview with police a short time ago, admitted to the crime. We're told an arrest warrant charging him with robbery is being prepared. The victim and her husband had traveled to Nashville for a medical appointment at Premier Orthopedics on Harding Place. Police say they encountered the robbery suspect at the entrance to the building at 12:20 p.m. on September 19th. Officers tell us they briefly engaged in a casual conversation before the robber suddenly shoved the elderly woman down and took her purse. We're told he fled on foot. At the time of the attack, Drewes, who is believed to be homeless, was wanted for failing to appear on two misdemeanor citations issued in July charging him with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tishomingo County voters OK beer, alcohol sales
May 22, 2013 23:38 GMT

IUKA, Miss. (AP) -- Tishomingo County is the latest Mississippi jurisdiction to legalize alcohol sales.

Voters approved the sale of liquor, wine and beer Tuesday, reports the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/13JCcix).

It wasn't clear referendums would pass until affidavit ballots were counted Wednesday.

With more than half Tishomingo County's voters casting ballots, legalizing alcohol passed by 42 votes, while legalizing beer and light wine passed by 73. The county borders Alabama and Tennessee.

Lawmakers legalized liquor at a proposed resort at the county's Bay Springs Lake in 2010, but it wasn't built.

Greene County voters legalized beer sales last year, while Corinth, New Albany and Senatobia have legalized alcohol sales under a 2012 law that allows cities to hold votes.

Mississippi has 13 remaining counties that allow no beer or alcohol sales.
