Campaign Contributions Questioned
Questions tonight over who contributed to Mayor Karl Dean's election campaign.
A recent Tennessean article reports the Dean staff didn't always document from where the funds came.
On campaign finance reports, the staff used a "best effort" phrase to describe its failure to find the occupations and employers of hundreds of donors.
We asked Mayor Dean why some of the donors were not listed.
"That just happens. You have certain real time constraints that occur that you have to have a report filed in the middle of a campaign and you do your best to get all the information you can. We disclose everybody who contributed. Our goal would be to do better. Obviously we want all that information to be out there. It is something certainly the public should have."
The mayor claims he had nothing to hide about the people who donated to his campaign.
You can see campaign donations for yourself because it's a matter of public record.
But they're kept on paper, not electronically.Campaign Contributions Questioned
