School on Hold in Cumberland County - Lori Paranjape
Classes were supposed to resume today in Cumberland County but they didn't because of a budget dispute between the county commission and school board.
The school board is asking the commission to approve a budget increase for nearly $8 million and until that happens, the new school year is on hold.
The county budget chair says the commission hasn't had enough time to come up with a plan to fund the increase, but believes students should be in school during the process.
In the meantime, students are on extended summer vacation.
