Decorated 'Dores

THE VANDERBILT WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM IS GETTING SET FOR THE NCAA TOURNAMENT... WHICH BEGINS ON FRIDAY.

THE DORES WILL HOST FIRST AND SECOND ROUND MATCHES FOR THE TENTH STRAIGHT YEAR.

FOX 17'S PAUL JONES HAS MORE IN FOX FIRST SPORTS.

THE DORES HAVE A GOOD THING GOING. THEY'VE BEEN TO THE SWEET SIXTEEN EACH OF THE PAST TEN SEASONS.

AND YOU HAVE TO LIKE THEIR CHANCES THIS GO AROUND.

TWO BIG REASONS - SENIORS TAKA BERTRAND AND AMANDA TAYLOR.
THEY ARE A COUPLE OF HIGHLY DECORATED DORES!

TAKA BERTRAND HAD A MODEST GOAL WHEN SHE FIRST STEPPED FOOT ON A VANDERBILT TENNIS COURT.

((Taka Bertrand says: 17:39:04 "Honestly I was just hoping to get a spot in the lineup when I first got here...the success going."))

OH TAKA DID THAT AND THEN SOME.

OVER THE PAST FOUR SEASONS - SHE'S RACKED UP 1-HUNDRED-22 SINGLES WINS.

MORE THAN ANY OTHER PLAYER IN VANDERBILT WOMEN'S TENNIS HISTORY.

((Nats Break))

HER TEAMMATE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE NET ISN'T TOO SHABBY EITHER.

AMANDA TAYLOR HAS BEEN AN ALL-SEC FIRST TEAM SELECTION THREE STRAIGHT SEASONS.

((Geoff Macdonald says: "Amanda's developed into one of the best shot makers in the country."))

THANKS IN PART TO HER TALENTED TEAMMATE TAKA.

IN FACT BOTH SENIORS ADMIT THEY WOULDN'T BE WHERE THEY ARE TODAY WITHOUT EACH OTHER.

((Amanda Taylor says: 17:50:58 "From day one...without her example."))

((Taka Bertrand says: 17:43:18 "She's a really tough player. Our games are a little bit different...to get me going right away."))

AS THEIR FINAL NCAA TOURNAMENT APPROACHES - TAKA AND AMANDA TALK LIKE TWO PLAYERS WHO AREN'T ABOUT TO REST ON THEIR LAURELS.

((Amanda Taylor says: 17:48:54 "We feel like there's more to do...not yet satisfied."))

A GREAT ATTITUDE TO HAVE.

THE ONLY THING THAT'LL SATISFY THEM IS A DEEP RUN IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT.

HEAD COACH GEOFF MACDONALD - BY THE WAY - IS CLOSING IN ON A MILESTONE

IF THE DORES CAN GET PAST INDIANA STATE ON FRIDAY - HE'LL PICK UP THE 3-HUNDREDTH WIN OF HIS LONG AND DISTINGUISHED CAREER!
