COREY BREWER IS ENJOYING THE RICHES OF THE NBA.

BUT THE FORMER PORTLAND HIGH BASKETBALL STAR HAS NOT FORGOTTEN HIS ROOTS.

FOX 17'S PAUL JONES HAS MORE IN FOX FIRST SPORTS.

COREY BREWER LOVED SUMMERS WHEN HE WAS A YOUNSTER.
NO SCHOOL AND A CHANCE TO PLAY BASKETBALL ALL DAY LONG.

BREWER SPENT A LOT OF TIME INSIDE THE PORTLAND HIGH GYM.
AND THAT'S WHERE WE FOUND HIM AGAIN TODAY!

COREY BREWER USED TO ATTEND CAMP. NOW HE'S RUNNING IT.
THIS IS THE FIRST ANNUAL COREY BREWER BASKETBALL CAMP.

((Corey Brewer says: "I remember when I was that age and watching kids in Portland and see if we got any players coming up because I remember when I was this age and hope somebody at the camp can be in my position one day."))

COREY JUST FINISHED HIS ROOKIE SEASON IN THE NBA WHERE HE AVERAGED NEARLY SIX POINTS AND FOUR REBOUNDS A GAME FOR THE MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES.

NOT BAD NUMBERS CONSIDERING THE ADJUSTMENTS HE HAD TO MAKE FROM HIS DAYS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA.

((Corey Brewer says: "I went from playing on a team in college that we ran up and down the court constantly to a team that in the NBA we just go into the post every time down so that was a tough adjustment and 82 games is a lot of games. A lot more than forty (laughter)."))

WITH A SEASON UNDER HIS BELT NOW - COREY IS EAGER TO GET BACK TO MINNESOTA.

THE WEATHER ISN'T GREAT BUT COREY THINKS HIS UPSIDE IS!

((Corey Brewer says: "I feel like I know what to expect now and I feel like I know how to get my shot, when to get my shot. I know where I have to be if I'm going to be a player on my team and I know what I got to do so I think next year is going to be a lot better year for me."))

BUT FOR NOW - COREY TRIES TO MAKE OTHERS BETTER.
PERHAPS ONE DAY - PORTLAND WILL BE THE HOMETOWN OF TWO PRO BASKETBALL PLAYERS.

((Corey Brewer says: "I hope so. I got some guys out here who can play. Some girls too. We got some really good girls here. So I think we're going to have a few Corey Brewer's hopefully."))

THIS TIME OF YEAR BRINGS BACK MORE GOOD MEMORIES FOR COREY.
THURSDAY NIGHT IS THE NBA DRAFT.

A YEAR AGO AT THIS TIME - HE WAS THE SEVENTH PLAYER TAKEN OVERALL.
