Luke Bryan-Stacy McCloud
An up and coming Country music artist is trying to avoid what's known in the music business as the "sophomore slump." Luke Bryan's second studio album is out.
Luke says you will no doubt notice changes from album one to album two- changes he says reflect even more of his laid back style-and even a pop song gone country! "Had a lot of fun things happen to me since last album and that shows through on this album a little bit."
Luke says a few years of experience under his belt has helped him build a sophomore album that's a bit different from the last. "Attempted things that were a little more edgy but I was wanting to make sure it did stay country and my producer was like- the way you talk it doesn't matter what instrument we put around your voice it's gonna sound country."
The edge he's referring to is a cover of the the popular One Republic song "Apologize." "Put some steel guitar. I think people are really surprised."
One of Luke's favorite songs on the album, "Doin' My Thing," will certainly more than make up for that country feel he wanted to ensure wasn't missing. "Gotta song called "Drinking Beer and Wasting Bullets" that is really cook.. just a mans anthem kinda deal."
More than anything, Luke wants his album to reflect growth.
But like all artists, he has goals for his second effort.
"I would love to have a number one on this album, didn't have that on my first. You would be a fool not to have that as a goal."
Dreams that are becoming a reality.
For six consecutive weeks, the video for his hit single, "Do I" is at number 1 on GAC, and the song is quickly climbing the charts.
It's currently at number 13. "If I can constantly show growth and get better at everything, every time I do something then I'll get to do this biz for a long time."
To promote the new album, Luke is doing a nine cities in nine days tour.
It kicked off Monday in his home state of Georgia.Luke Bryan-Stacy McCloud
