WZTV FOX 17 - Tennessee Mornings
A family found themselves to be victims of what appears to be a random act of violence. It all started Sunday while they were in their car waiting at a red light on the exit ramp off I-40 and Demonbreun.
According to court records, Tamra Nelson may have been looking for trouble. She was reportedly shouting racial slurs at the family while standing on the corner of the intersection. Nelson then picked up a rock and threw it at the car. It made a dent in the back passenger side where the family's four year old daughter was sitting inside.
Nelson ran from the scene then turned back around to pick up something she dropped. By this time, the couple had gotten out of the car to inspect the damage. Nelson confronted the couple again and pulled out a pair of scissors and started threatening the man and his wife.
Police were able to arrest Nelson before anyone got hurt. Nelson is charged with aggravated assault and vandalism and being held on a $60,000 bond.
