WZTV FOX 17 News :: Newsroom - WASTE WATCH: Use of Drone Technology on American Streets is Under the Microscope
A new report from the WASHINGTON GUARDIAN finds Homeland Security basically created a loan a drone program. Police departments get to borrow the same units used to find terrorist cells overseas. Recently, drones were used to find missing cattle in North Dakota. There are still some questions about the legality of the program, due to the invasion of privacy.

"The program is shrouded in secrecy and really, it's not legally clear if the Department of Homeland Security is able to do this," says the Electronic Privacy Information Center's Amie Stepanovich.

The ACLU is also looking into the privacy issues surrounding drones. You can find all our WASTE WATCH stories on Fox17.com. Just go to HOT TOPICS and click on WASTE WATCH. You can also submit your ideas for WASTE WATCH stories in that same section.
