"Maybe the single best verse in the Bible about angels is Hebrews 1: 14 which says 'are not all angels ministering spirits sent ot serve those who will inherit salvation'," says Donelson Fellowship Author Reverend Robert Morgan.
Morgan is senior pastor at Donelson Fellowship and the author of a new book on angels. He says the Bible contains 234 separate passages of Scripture on the subject. Morgan says angels are very real.
"There are times I think when angels provide for us and protect us in ways we don't know a great deal about," says Reverend Morgan. "Sometimes we may not even know about it."
Chris Golden is a professional musician. He believes he was touched by an angel jsut over a year ago while he was on the road singing and playing drums on the Oak Ridge Boys Christmas Tour. He should have been on top of the world, but before a show in Cerritos, California, Golden says he was at rock bottom.
"I felt like the evil one was working on me," says Golden. "I was at a really low spot in my life. I was missing home. I missed my family."
Alone on a dark stage, depressed over unfulfilled dreams of being a headliner himself, Golden says he was approached by a man who knew exactly what to day.
"He said stop playing for the ones that write your check," says Golden. "And stop playing for the people who pay really good money to see the guys who write your check. He said play for the one that gave you the gift."
Golden wrote the advice on the skin of his drum and he re-writes it every time a skin is replaced. Chris says he'll never forget the rush that came over him or the question he asked the stranger.
"Are you an angel?" asks Golden. "He smiled at me and kinda shook his head. He said he was a messenger. He felt led to tell me that."
"In May 1995 I was diagnosed with an aneurism, a massive aneurism," says Monica Frost.
Frost, of Gallatin, says her angel experience came in the hospital while she recovered from brain surgery. During her difficult recovery, Frost says a woman with long black hair was always at her bedside. When she was ready to go home, Frost wanted to say thank you, only to be told there is no nurse with long dark hair.
"It was just so amazing," says Frost. "I get chills just talking about it because for some reason she was there. I had so much peace. It was like I was perfectly taken care of."
"In Psalm 91 there's a verse that says he will station his angels around you and guard you in all of your ways," says Reverend Morgan.
Joy Reinhard's angel story came on a snowy winter's night. The pilot light on the heater had gone out and her home was filling with gas. Reinhard says her mother was awakened by what she thought was Joy's voice saying wake up, we have to get out, but Joy was in the next room, unconscious, near death from the fumes.
"I was not in her room," says Reinhard. "I was out cold. She had a hard time waking me up, and it's something you never forget."
Pastor Morgan believes angels are more common than we think.
"There are unseen armies of angels around God's children to protect them," says Reverend Morgan. "And maybe only after we go to Heaven will we realize all they have done for us in this world."
