WBFF Fox 45 :: STACY'S STORY: A Nashville Man's Story of Hope
We continue our SPECIAL REPORT, focusing now on a West Nashville man who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. It's important to note, not everyone who has MS has silver fillings, but this young man believes his have something to do with it. To say Stacy's humbled that her story might have helped someone else is an understatement. Rumeal Perdue is just 22 years old, diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 3 years ago during his sophomore year at Tennessee State University. His fiance, Nicketta, also a TSU student, contacted Stacy last May after she went public with her diagnosis of MS, and her personal revelation that her silver dental fillings, which are 50% mercury, had something to do with her neurological problems. Rumeal's legs were most affected at first. Then he became wheelchair bound, and now, the sudden blindness forced the Engineering Major to leave TSU his senior year. After learning Stacy had her silver mercury fillings safely removed, the young couple was encouraged to hear her results: stable, in remission for 3 years running. Rumeal says he heard her report loud and clean because he had a mouth full. Rumeal's family found a biological dentist who understood the importance of safe removal since grinding on the fillings releases harmful mercury vapor. So Rumeal showed us his progress. Step by step he makes his way downstairs. Rumeal's also taking another similar step as Stacy, embarking on a series of IV chelation treatments to draw heavy metals from the body.

"So your legs were twitching?" asks Stacy.

"They were twitching like when I was driving I was like 'Oh'," says Rumeal. "In class my leg would hit the desk."

"I know my leg would jump," says Stacy. "My arm would jump. I'm looking did anybody notice that? Were you a little bit apprehensive for him to try this? It's kind of controversial?"

"I was definitely skeptical," says Nicketta. "I didn't let him know that because I didn't want ot bring him down, his hopes or anything."

The couple is hopeful his vision will return next.

"I love him," says Nicketta. "I love him with all my heart. That's my best friend. Really is. I love him."

Stacy knows her story can't help everyone, but she's always said, if it helps just one person, then it's all been worth it.

"That was so bold of you and so caring," says Rumeal. "You know how it feels. The symptoms, the leg numbness and the tingling."

"Well I just started getting better when I went down this alternative path," says Stacy. "I felt like I can't keep this to myself. I felt like that would be wrong."

Rumeal one day hopes to finish his Engineering degree and marry the woman who's stuck by his side through it all. For resources that may help you, click FOX LINKS and look for STACY'S STORY.STACY'S STORY: A Nashville Man's Story of Hope
