That's who makes up parmalee - a country rock band that got its name from humble beginnings. "It's named after the small town. The population 264. That is where we had a rehearsal space, we grew up near Parmalee, but had this barn in the middle of this small country town that we were able to go out there and rehearse" says Parmalee member Matt Thomas.
"Parmalee's first single "Musta Had A Good Time" has been somewhat of a college party anthem. "We didn't have a car go in a pool, but had one go in a creek. It's fun gets crowd pumped up" says Parmalee member Scott Thomas.
The song is a series of true stories that the guys say fans have related to everywhere they've played. "Every time we play that song we have a handful of people will say did you write that about me. I know I was at that party" says Parmalee member Josh McSwain.
Before signing with Stony Creek Records, they spent a lot of time driving back and forth from Nashville to North Carolina. But will never forget the trip they were on when they wrote the song. "We spent a month in the parking lot of comfort across from tin roof in our RV. Writing songs, meeting who we could , eventually met our prodicer and he introduced us to stoney creek and that is how it cultivated" says Matt.
The guys just recently released their second single, "Carolina". "It's a great representation of us as a band, me as a singer, where we are from and how our music sounds" says Matt.
They're finishing up their debut album, set to be released later this year, but right now all they can think about is this Friday, when they make their Grand Ole Opry debut.
"It's a lifetime achievement thing. You want to play Opry. To stand in the circle .. check that off the list" he smiles.
