NASHVILLE, Tenn. - This isn't how we are used to seeing country singer Meghan Linsey, without the other half of her duo "Steel Magnolia" by her side. But the talented musician says it's something she hopes to be doing a lot more of.

"Been working over the past year and a half just writing and recording new music. It's nice to do something different and be able to sing these songs that I've been writing and working on so hard" says Linsey.

Linsey is a little over half way through with writing and picking songs for her first ever solo project.

"I've been through a lot  in last year and a half. To be able to write about it all makes me feel good.The songs are very honest and real" she says.

It's a scary venture, but something she feels passionate about doing.

"Both of us are really doing the solo thing. Just seems to be the right time for us to do separate things" she says.

False rumors started circulating about a year ago that the duo was splitting. Solo projects certainly will only add fuel to that fire, but Lindsey says they are still a duo and have shows booked until the end of the year. While she won't say that this is the beginning of the end for steel magnolia, she does say flying solo feels right.

"Would you say this is you focus" asks Entertainment Reporter Stacy McCloud. "Yes, it's becoming that way" says Linsey. "This is more where my heart is right now. There comes in a time when there are other things you want to do"
