NASHVILLE, Tenn. - He's the man we all wanted Carrie to end up with on "Sex and the City". Of course, we're talking about Aiden. Many may not know this, but in addition to acting, John Corbett is also a guitar player and country singer! Tuesday his sophomore album hit shelves. We had a chance to sit down and talk to him, and even have him play a couple of his new tunes! Corbett has been playing hundreds of shows and waiting for this day for several years now.
"I wanted to put a record together in 2009, but it came and went and left," says Corbett.
His sophomore album "Leaving Nothin' Behind" is finally available. Different than his 2006 self-titled debut, but the biggest difference - his confidence.
"It's a little more Americana than the last one which is straight country," says Corbett. "The first time around I hadn't even sang concerts in front of people. Since then I've done 600 shows and that was the big difference going into the studio."
Corbett says the theme of the album ended up being a little dark, but it's certainly no downer.
"I just tried to pick the 10 best short stories," says Corbett. "Didn't go for the hooks."
It's full of relatable toe tappin' tunes like "Me and Whiskey".
"It's about a guy and his good friend, a buddy that comes to town and his name is Whiskey and, like all guys that have a good friend named Whiskey, the wife doesn't approve," says Corbett.
Corbett is most recognizable for his role of Carrie's boyfriend Aiden on "Sex and the City". Despite his very successful acting career, Corbett says music has always had his heart, and he finds no shame in using stage names to entice an audience.
"If the marquee says 'Big Fat Greek Wedding', 'Sex and the City', 'Aiden in here tonight', that is good enough for me," says Corbett.
If you want to see John play LIVE, he has a show in Nashville on Sunday, March 3 at Whiskey Bent Saloon. To see our entire interview (He had some great stories about how he got into acting and a really sweet story about his mom buying him a guitar), just go to the RAW NEWS section of Fox17.com!
