BATON ROUGE, LA. - Another night of big voices, including some locals, on AMERICAN IDOL. Auditions took place in Judge Randy Jackson's stomping ground of Louisiana, and just like every city we've seen so far, there were some Tennessee folks representing!
Paul Jolley is from Palmersville, Tennessee. He sang Rascal Flatts for the judges and was there singing in honor of his grandfather who just recently passed away. We are told that Jolley actually lives here in Nashville. The judges all loved his voice, sending him on to Hollywood.
Dustin Watts was another country stand out during auditions tonight. He is a firefighter from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dustin sang a Garth Brooks song for the judges, and as soon as the auditions were over, rushed to the firehouse to let his friends know he got the golden ticket!
Megan Miller sang for the judges. Megan had an accident just days before auditions and was told by her surgeon that she had an infection and needed immediate surgery. She decided to hold off until after her audition. Miller, who is a former Miss Baton Rouge, wowed the judges with her powerful voice and got that golden ticket!
Last but not least, Burnell Taylor from New Orleans. Taylor is a 3rd generation singer. Both his grandfather and mother sing. He survived losing everything in Katrina and really started pursuing music after the tragedy. Taylor got a standing O from the judges and even moved Mariah to tears. Nicki told him that she didn't feel like it was an audition, that she felt she was being entertained. Keith told him that there is a spotlight somewhere waiting on him.
Make sure and tune in for TENNESSEE MORNINGS tomorrow. During the 7am hour, the first guy we featured, Paul Jolley, will be joining Nick and Kelly to talk about his IDOL audition experience! IDOL auditions continue in Texas next Wednesday right here on FOX17!
