WZTV FOX17 :: Downtown Nashville is the Place to be Tonight
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - For the first time in months, things are looking up, and businesses are getting a boost. There is a clear sense of excitement downtown tonight.
A huge crowd is there to see Justin Bieber in concert inside the arena, and the crowds aren't going away. Downtown merchants are thrilled to welcome Predators fans back. The lockout hurt many of the bars and restaurants, but tomorrow night the Preds will be back on the ice playing their first game. Tonight's concert is viewed by many as a turning point. Optimism is running high as people come back downtown.

"We just want to get the fans back here, let them know we have missed them, and really celebrate having the Preds. You don't know what you got til it's gone as far as the Preds go, we were very sad to lose them for a while, thrilled to have them back," says Missy Sweany, Rippy's Bar & Grill.

Many believe the profitable lights are just beginning in downtown Nashville. The opening of the new convention center this Spring could put thousands of people on these streets on any given night.
