Saving You Money

I'm Saving You Money tonight on various things. Let's start with trees. Been thinking about sprucing up your yard? How about planting a new tree or two? The great news is tomorrow, they're FREE! Three thousand of them like this, bagged and ready to go. The Cumberland River Compact is giving away the trees at the Tennessee Department of Forestry Nursery from 8 til 5pm. They're giving away poplars, red oaks, willow oaks and more. The office is located at 1312 3rd Avenue North in Nashville.
We're starting off this new year with higher food prices. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the drought last summer will drive prices up 3 to 4 percent. One way to stretch your grocery budget is to revisit the old mainstay of canning. It's making a big comeback and many county extension officer offer free classes on canning. Check with yours to learn more.
