It's time to get shots before she starts school.

And Khaliah's parents are getting the shots free at their local health department.

We were just getting all of the hard stuff out of the way.
No
cost shots are available under the federal Vaccines for Children
program. The most a family may be asked to pay per shot is a $13
administration fee... but that too... is waived if a family can't
afford it.
Nurse says: Look how brave you are..
The
vaccines are offered at every county and city public health department
and at private doctor's offices enrolled in the program, like the
Matthew Walker Health Center in North Nashville..... and several United
Neighborhood Health clinics across the area .

It allows us to provide vaccines to patients 18 or younger who have no insurance at all or who are underinsured..
Underinsured simply means the policy doesn't cover shots.
Nurse says: Relax it . You've go too much muscle there.

Under the Affordable Care Act, currently being phased in, soon all insurance companies will be forced to cover them.

Access
to immunizations is going to get easier for people of all ages under
the ACA because commercial insurance under that act is required to cover
vaccines with no deductible and no co pay for people of all ages if a
vaccine is recommended for them.
Until then.....

students know they have a safety net that will help them get this all important form completed.
