Yea, we know it's a dirty word. Tax day is next Tuesday, and there are some things you may have overlooked in your deductions that can save you big time. First, credits for parents. There are lots of them. Did you know you can get tax savings for adopting a child, for having a child and for child care. Another one: a new ride. In fact, the owner of Blankenship CPA Group says this is the most overlooked item this tax season.

"If you bought a new car or leased a car or you happened to pick up an RV or boat or airplane, there are special provisions that allow you to take that over and above a general sales tax deduction," says C.J. Blankenship. "That is the most missed thing we've seen in the last year or so."

How do you know if you should itemize or take the standard deduction? Blankenship says if you either own a house and have a fair amount of interest, or if you make a lot of charitable donations, you should itemize.
