The 2006 movie, 'THE HOLIDAY' --- highlights the art of house swapping.

But homeowners like Gina White do this in real life, to save money.

Gina White says, I saw that movie The Holiday and I saw how they did it .. and I joined.

Though there are several home swapping sites, white paid a little over $100 dollars to join home exchange.

Ed Kushins/ Home Exchange.com President says,  People feel very comfortable using the internet as a way to do home exchange just like internet dating for your house.  

White posted pictures of her property and started planning her trip.

White says,  The very first home exchange I did.. I stayed in a place that had 13 fireplaces and 7 bedrooms.. it was insane.. the place was so big it was so insane.

That was in Chicago.

She says, The biggest expense for me always is staying in a hotel so you're saving that money..

The Franklin woman has also exchanged with someone in New York.

White adds,  I'm paying for the lights here and they're paying for the lights there and it's a swap.. that's what it is...

White finishes,  They think it's creepy.. you're sleeping in someone's bed on someone's pillow.. I just think in a hotel someone is staying the night before...
