WBFF Fox 45 :: End of the Year
In tonight's SAVING YOU MONEY report, December spending gets special attention. Not just because of all the gifts you'll be buying, but because of special year end considerations that will run out in just a few short weeks. Great savings can be had come tax time if you tally up your medical expenses now. This is the time of year to get out all those receipts for doctor and dental visits, prescriptions, wheelchairs, even weight loss and smoking cessation programs. If it all adds up to 7.5% of your gross, it's a big tax deduction. If you're close, but just shy of the 7.5% mark, get a physical or a medical procedure you've been putting off before December 31.

Don't do your Christmas shopping until you check out cardcash.com. This website sells used giftcards for up to 25% off. They have a rating with the Better Business Bureau. FOX17's Stacy Case has saved hundreds buying discounted gift cards there.

By now you've certainly flipped on the heat. If it's not working or if you're in the market for a new furnace, don't wait til next year to buy. The State of Tennessee is giving energy efficient appliance rebates if you buy a qualified Energy Star replacement. There's over $1 million in rebates left, but this program runs out January 14. You can apply for the rebate by clicking on FOX LINKS and looking for APPLIANCE REBATE. Keep in mind, the rebate also applies to air conditioners or heat pumps as long as you bought it on or before April of 2010.
