WBFF Fox 45 :: Thanksgiving on a Budget
The Thanksgiving meal most of us eat has basically the same items on it but that doesn't mean we're all paying the same price.

Tasha Warren is among those who price shop.

"I went on my Ipad and looked up all the adds in the papers and realized which one had better deals," said Warren.

Fox 17 News decided to do the same.

We compared prices at Walmart, Kroger and Publix.

There's a noticeable difference for frozen Butterball turkeys.

Kroger is selling them for $1.49 a pound.

That's more than Walmart's $1.18 and Publix's $1.09.

The price comparison is reversed for a fresh Butterball turkey with Kroger's $1.79 being 10 cents cheaper than Publix's.

The Walmart location we visited didn't have a non-frozen Butterball turkey for sale.

Walmart has the cheapest sweet potatoes at 28 cents a pound compared to 39 cents at Publix and Kroger.

Walmart
also has the cheapest pumpkin pie.  We found a 24 oz. container for
$2.98 compared to $2.99 at Publix and $3.99 at Kroger for a 22 oz
container.

The Kroger brand stuffing is the cheapest.  We found a
16 oz bag for $1.99 there compared to the brand names in smaller bags
at Walmart and Publix each selling for $2.50.

Cranberry sauce is
one of those items where the price is virtually the same, 99 cents at
Publix, $1.00 at Kroger and $1.16 at Walmart.

Add up that 10
pound frozen turkey, five pounds of sweet potatoes, two pumpkin pies,
stuffing and cranberry sauce and the $22.32 you're spending at Publix is
less than the $22.82 at Walmart and $27.82 at Kroger.Thanksgiving on a Budget
