There's lots of confusion in the grocery aisle over coupons. We're going to break it all down for you since many stores have recently revamped their coupon policies. We start with competitors' coupons. Here's a good example. If you see a coupon like this one from Harris Teeter that gives you $10 back if you buy $40 worth of groceries, chances are you can use it at a neighboring store.

"So if I'm not at Harris Teeter," says Faithfulprovisions.com's Kelly Hancock. "I'm at Publix. Publix takes competitors' coupons. I can just go use this at Publix since that's where I shop most of the time. So, I don't have to go to a different store, and you just need to make sure your store honors that competitor's coupon."

The best way to check is to call Customer Service. Many stores still honor competitors' coupons within a 2-5 mile radius. Another confusing coupon is one that has a store's name on it, but if you read the fine print, you'll see it's really a manufacturer's coupon redeemable at any store.
