Meningitis Outbreak

New numbers are just released in the deadly fungal meningitis centered in Nashville. The CDC is reporting 5 new cases in Tennessee, but no new deaths. That brings the total number of cases to 49 statewide including 6 deaths. Nationwide there are fungal meningitis cases in 12 states, with Idaho the latest added to the list. There are 170 cases of the disease nationwide including 14 deaths. The patients became ill or died following spinal injections of a steroid used to treat back pain.
