TN Department of Health confirms five new cases of fungal meningitis from steroid shots.
4 cases involve patients who received steroid pain treatment from an outpatient facility at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
The fifth case is a patient who received the same treatment from the Specialty Surgery Center in Crossville.
This brings the total number of meningitis cases in this outbreak to 18 in Tennessee including 2 deaths.
Counting Tennessee there are 26 cases across the country in 5 states including 4 deaths.
State medical officials are also keeping a close eye on the PCA Pain Care Center in Oak Ridge Tennessee that received steroid injections from the same company that provided it to the other two facilities.
