11-year-old cancer survivor uses birthday to pay it forward
SAN ANTONIO - A cancer survivor used his birthday Thursday to help lighten the lives of the kids going through the same ordeal he survived.
11-year-old Reid Smith was diagnosed with a stage 3 kidney cancer at the age of 2. Thankfully, in 2009, his cancer went into remission. But he had a special request for his birthday party guests: bring a gift, not for him, but for the other patients at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. Reid also raised nearly $1,000 for the hospital through his Facebook page.
FUN FACT: Reid is also the official ball boy for the Clemens High School football team.
