Three arrested after massive drug bust and over $200,000 recovered
NASHVILLE, Tenn. —
Three were arrested on Thursday night after a massive drug bust and over $200, 000 found.
According to Metro police, three people were stopped for a traffic violation and narcotics investigation. The driver was very slow to stop and after finally stopping, everyone in the vehicle took off running from detectives and refused commands to stop. The suspects, Veronica Guerra, Albaro Mendez, and Hector Hererra, were caught after a short chase.
After a search of the vehicle, detectives recovered $89,500 that was hidden in the middle console area. Police also obtained a warrant for Guerra's and Mendez's home on Lyle Lane. Detectives noticed Guerra go into the house, stay for about five minutes, and leave with a small tote bag full of money, as they were preparing to execute the search. Guerra was stopped by the detectives and detained.
According to an affidavit, Guerra stated that her boyfriend called her, said he was under arrest, and told her to go into the house and pick up the bag of money. She also stated that she didn't know anything about the drugs in the house.
Detectives recovered 16 grams of Heroin, 8,246 grams of cocaine, digital scales, kilogram press, a handgun, a rifle and $127,461, after searching the residence.
Guerra was charged with money laundering, tampering with evidence, possession of a weapon/firearm, felony drug offense, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Mendez was charged with money laundering, evading arrest, possession of a weapon/firearm, felony drug offense, and unlawful use of paraphernalia.
Hererra was charged with money laundering and evading arrest.
