Suspect wanted in 2014 murder arrested overnight

A Nashville man wanted for the 2014 murder of another man was taken into custody early Wednesday morning.

Takyris Simms, 20, is a second suspect in the murder of Jorge Garnica, which took place outside Garnica's home.

Simms and 20-year-old Shaquay Dodd were allegedly involved in a robbery that led to the shooting death of Garnica.

According to a police affidavit, Simms was arrested on unrelated charges for escaping his residential group home, Monroe Harding, earlier last year.

During the time of the murder, Simms was a juvenile.

A Juvenile Court petition and arrest order charging criminal homicide had been issued against Simms earlier this year.
