(MGN Online)

UPDATE: (3/20/18)

Lane closures are slated for Tuesday as TDOT works to repair a sinkhole on I-24 eastbound in Clarksville.

Crews will be on scene near the 9.5 mile marker from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. TDOT is hoping to have at least one lane of travel open.

Drivers in the area should expect delays.

Clarksville Police say a sinkhole has lanes of I-24EB closed on Monday.

Police said the depression opened up near Mile Marker 9 on I-24EB in Montgomery County. One of three lanes on I-24 EB is closed right now, but the entire road will soon be shutting down for repairs. Traffic is backed up at least two miles in the area.

There's no estimated time of repair. Drivers should find alternate routes.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Tennessee Department of Transportation are on scene.
