Prepping for a surgery that can cost you anywhere from $75 to $350 dollars, but it doesn't have to at Pet Community Center. The nonprofit in East Nashville offering spaying and neutering for just $20 bucks through the month of June.

President and CEO Natalie Corwin explains why, "A lot of times, cost is a barrier to having your pet spayed or neutered, so we're hoping this $20 special will encourage more people to get their pet fixed who might not otherwise be able to afford it."

The Midstate has a severe pet overpopulation problem. It's one FOX 17 has devoted lots of news coverage to.

That's why Pet Community Center is offering what's typically an expensive procedure for rock bottom prices.

Rescue Volunteer Lloyd Townsend says anything to get pet owners to have their animals 'fixed,' is a good thing, "There's just a drastic over supply in this area and spaying and neutering is the best way, the most humane way to reduce the excess population."

Pet Community Center is able to offer this service because it's funded through grants from PetSmart and other donations.

The non-profit hopes to "fix" 200 pets this month and they only have about 80 appointments left.

The only qualification is your pet has to be under six months old for the "Precious, Not Parents" promotion.

To schedule an appointment, visit. or call 615-512-5001. Remember to mention the "Precious, Not Parents" promotion to get the $20 deal.
