Resolution would pave way for casino-style gambling in Tennessee
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--A joint resolution in Tennessee seeks to make gambling and games of chance associated with casinos legal.
HJR0109 filed by Rep. Larry J. Miller (D-Memphis) will go before the State Government Subcommittee on Wednesday. The resolution seeks to ammend Article XI, Section 5 of the Tennessee Constitution to allow the state legislature to authorize "casinos and games of chance associated with casinos to be operated in Tennessee."
Currently, Article XI, Section 5 allows for the state lottery but not other games of chance such as roulette, slot machines, and the like.
