Report: Card skimmer found at Murfreesboro Tigermart, others found at bordering counties
MURFREESBORO, Tenn.--An employee at the Tigermart at 2020 S. Church Street found a credit card skimmer at one of the pumps and tells Murfreesboro Police other locations have reported similar instances.
In a report taken by police on Thursday just after 2pm, an employee at the gas station says she was checking the gas pumps when she discovered a skimmer at pump five. She then went inside to alert her supervisor, but when they returned, the skimmer was gone. However, a check of the other pumps then found the skimmer at a different pump.
Police and employees checked security video and observed a 2005-2010 silver Ford Explorer pull up to pump 5 around the time the skimmer was discovered as well as a Chevy S10 Sonoma sitting at pump 15 for about 20 minutes. The driver of the Explorer can be seen pulling behind the truck and the two suspects have a conversation. After the truck moves, the Explorer pulls up to 15 and stays there for an extended period of time before reversing out of the lot to keep cameras from capturing the license plate number. It was just after this point the employees then found the skimmer at pump 15.
Officers took the skimmer as evidence and say it was labeled with the number "14." The manager of the location told police "Tigermarts across bordering counties have also found skimmers that were similarly labeled," the report states.
The report adds the Explorer in question had stock wheels and tinted windows.
