Police search for potential gunman in Wooded-Area in Mt. Juliet

Mt. Juliet, Tenn. (WZTV) -- Mt. Juliet Police are searching for a potential gunman in a wooded-area near the Hickory Hills subdivision.

Police tell Fox 17 that two separate incidents prompted the search.

In the first incident police were called to the wooded area behind Leesa Ann Lane after two juveniles reported that a man threatened to harm them while they were walking in the woods.

Officers searched the area and found an abandoned vehicle and campsite, plus there was that someone was shooting a firearm.

According to police, officers responded to the same area around 7:30 p.m. after two people on an ATV reported that a man fired a shot at them.

No one was injured in both incidents.

The man police are looking for is believed to be a homeless man, camped out in the woods and maybe armed.

Aviation and K9 support are on scene assisting in the search.
